Qualifications: LMT, NCBTMB and FL CE provider, Advanced Practitioner, Advanced Instructor, Basic and Advanced Instructor Trainer,
Teaching Subjects: All the classes: I love teaching Phase 4, Self Care, Phase 5 and Phase 6, Posture, Isometrics, Chapman's Reflexes, Pelvic Stabilization, Cranial, Advanced Chapman's, Carpal tunnel Syndrome, and Ethics and Emotions. I am also completing my Instructor training in Bones for Life.
Philosophy: During the past thirty years I have worked with thousands of people in pain in my Ortho-Bionomy private practice, and have developed release techniques for carpal tunnel syndrome and neuritis conditions of the arm and shoulder. In Self Care Seminars I observe the empowering results and the effectiveness of educating individuals to attune to comfort and to apply the principles and techniques of Ortho-Bionomy for pain relief. With a respectful, playful and empowering approach, I enjoy teaching and encouraging self-discovery to enhance the quality of one's life.
Biography: My interest in Ortho-Bionomy Self Care began in response to my own injuries and near death experience following a motorcycle accident. Undergraduate studies in Pre-Med and a BA degree in psychology with a minor in education from UCLA in 1970 drew me to study modalities that not only could effectively relieve pain, but also would respect individual differences and address the mind / body connection. Currently, I am licensed as a massage therapist in Florida and am certified as a continuing education provider with the State of Florida and with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). I teach over thirty courses a year in the US and Australia, and throughout the years have taught Ortho-Bionomy courses in Japan, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, New Zealand and Jamaica. I train instructors, mentor practitioners, and write articles for newsletters in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. The July 2008 issue of Massage Magazine ran my article on Ortho-Bionomy.

Class Name: Cranial
Subtitle:
Instructor Name: Luann Overmyer
Start Date: 6/22/2018
End Date: 6/24/2018
Location: Gainesville
State/Country: FL
Class Description: This approach to cranial work blends Ortho-Bionomy‘s osteopathic roots with Arthur Pauls’ energetic / esoteric philosophy of the work. The subtle contact characteristic of cranial-sacral work fits perfectly into the spectrum of Ortho-Bionomy practice. In Ortho-Bionomy we work with the self-balancing and natural corrective reflexes of the organism. We approach the person as a whole being. We acknowledge in a very direct way the body structure in Phase 4, the internal fluid movement in Phase 5, the energy in Phase 6, and the spirit in Phase 7. In cranial work we are meeting and contacting the subtlest interface between body, fluids, energy and spirit as we observe how the person’s own self corrective capacity interacts to resolve physical and energetic misunderstandings and return the system to balanced physiologic motion.

Class Name: Posture and Post Techniques
Subtitle:
Instructor Name: Luann Overmyer
Start Date: 9/22/2018
End Date: 9/23/2018
Location: Norfolk Outer Banks
State/Country: NC
Class Description: Posture can be looked upon as the shape of experience. Within posture we can observe heredity, early-learned patterns, present capacity, and the will to manifest aspirations. Bringing awareness to the body assists the person to maintain connection with the body’s sensations, preferences and natural responsiveness. Increasing the awareness of postural patterns, engages and empowers the client toward balanced postural embodiment. This Posture class focuses on how to assist clients with exercises and movements to maintain balanced posture through neuromuscular re-education. Participants will learn through accurate observation and simple movement exercises to evaluate and assist clients with inefficient postural habits. Techniques to work with spinal curvatures and scoliosis will also be presented and practiced. Post techniques are used to assess and release areas of tension and integrate the work done in a session.

Class Name: Isometrics and Isotonics
Subtitle:
Instructor Name: Luann Overmyer
Start Date: 7/21/2018
End Date: 7/22/2018
Location: Nashville
State/Country: TN
Class Description: Often structural imbalances are the result of unequal stresses of the musculature around the joints of the body. Through the use of isometric and isotonic techniques we can facilitate the relaxation of hypertonic (tense) muscles while encouraging the toning of those with less tone (hypotonic). By enlisting the active participation of the client we can assist the self correction of postural imbalances and chronic pain patterns, and gently create significant and long-lasting change.

Instructor Name: Luann Overmyer
Start Date: 8/25/2018
End Date: 8/26/2018
Location: Orange Park
State/Country: FL
Class Description: Phase 5 Ortho-Bionomy is about having a conversation with the tissue, not an argument. The gentle and subtle approach of this work is especially appropriate for releasing severe, acute pain, chronic patterning, and for interrupting the mental and emotional fixated aspects that reinforce the tension patterns. This class presents practical, gentle release techniques can seem almost magical in their effectiveness. Releases for psoas, pelvis, lumbars, coccyx, neck, shoulders, clavicle, ears, eyes, and jaw will be presented and practiced. • Refine your subtle palpatory listening skills • Clarify your capacity to more clearly track mental, emotional and physical aspects • Observe and work with tissue preferences in relationship to structural alignmen • Reinforce the body’s wisdom not the patient’s storylines • Detect mood in the tissue • Use internal state shifts to influence and interrupt habituated storylines and holding patterns.
