Biography: Jessica Mark’s greatest love is working with and learning from the body. Jessica graduated from the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts as an Ortho-Bionomy Practitioner in 2006 and became an Instructor in 2014. She is also a Pilates instructor, somatic movement educator, and owner of Happy Body, a fitness and wellness studio in Asheville, NC. Jessica's practice and teaching of Ortho-Bionomy is complemented by her training and study in Pilates, Polarity Therapy, Gyrokinesis, Trauma Therapy, Body-Mind Centering, and as a professional dancer. She believes in the truth and integrity of the body and is passionate about the blending of touch and movement. With students and clients, Jessica works to bridge the gap between the language of the body and the language of the cognitive mind so that clients may find freedom and ease in their physical being.

Class Description: Co Taught by Bob Lehnberg (www.intouchsomatics.com) This class addresses the homeostatic aspects of our body especially the nervous, endocrine and immune systems. The organic systems of respiration, digestion and fluid balance are also included. We will pay considerable attention to the nervous system and how it relates to bodywork (movement and touch) in its sensory-motor, somatic-autonomic and sympathetic- parasympathetic functions. We will also consider ways to support this system to regulate ease and health of the body. A great way to understand anatomy from an experiential approach.
